Exploring the integration of post-2014 migrants in small and medium-sized towns and rural areas from a whole-of-community perspective
As part of the H2020 Project Whole-COMM, I conduct in-depth case studies and support an international research institute in managing the project. Whole-COMM proposes an innovative whole-of-community approach to the analysis of integration dynamics in small and medium-sized towns and rural areas. Going beyond existing definitions, the Whole-COMM perspective conceives of integration as a process of community making that can result in more cohesive or more fragmented social relations.
Regional and local expertise, exchange, and engagement for enhanced social cohesion in Europe
In the framework of Includ-EU, a project funded by the EU Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (DG HOME), I prepared a thematic briefing on housing inclusion of Third Country Nationals in six EU countries, engaged relevant local and regional stakeholders, and developed a training module.
Implementing Italy's National Integration Plan
I advised the Italian Ministry of Interior and a working group composed of UNHCR, the European Commission, Italian regional authorities, and the National Association of Italian Municipalities on access to housing for international protection holders. I produced a 30-page report with policy recommendations on this topic and a project proposal for the implementation of Plan.
